Starship Magazine is open for submissions of short fiction and nonfiction. We will also consider submissions of longer works which were designed with an eye toward episodic presentation.
Short Fiction: Should be between 1000 and 16,000 words of original (non-reprint) work. We accept works in any sub-genre of science fiction and fantasy, but prefer work with a “fun” feel - adventure fiction.
Long Episodic Fiction: We will on occasion publish longer works, broken up into multiple issues. Stories submitted as a longer work should be episodic by design; that is, they should have clear break points that were written into the story with intent for it to be read in multiple chunks of 5000-15,000 words.
Non-Fiction: Can be anything of interest to science fiction and fantasy readers. Examples might be book reviews (must be released no more than two months prior to review submission), articles on the genre-writing business, articles on science, writing process, and so on.
Payment: $0.02 US per word.
Rights: We claim first world electronic rights (text and audio) and first print rights.
Process: Please submit your work via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Submissions should be in standard manuscript format. You can see examples of that format here: https://www.shunn.net/format/story.html
We accept RTF, DOC, and DOCX, which should be attached to the email.
